There are a lot of talks about the newly released iOS 7 designs, personally I loved it, I wouldn’t call myself a designer but I did try making a couple of apps look simple and elegant, I love minimizing stuff to the core, yet the tricky part is how to still make it look beautiful, I’m not sure about others, but I find it actually hard.
I’ve heard people saying that now everyone can be a designer with flat designs, I disagree, yes it’s easier to meet the minimum criteria for any design, yet the bar of making it beautiful and stands out has never been higher.
It’s the details, it’s the white space, it’s the things that you cannot see, it’s the one or two colors that we use, it’s the precision, it’s the logic, flat design is the kind of thing that seems straightforward in the end yet so hard to come up with in the beginning, it seems simple but behind it it’s thousands of decisions.
